What is an RFI and what do I do?

The DNO sometimes asks for more information mid-application. Here's how we handle it.

What it is

RFI stands for Request For Information. It's when the DNO's engineer needs clarification on something before continuing the review.

Common RFIs

  • Cut-out rating (60A, 80A, 100A) not clear from the photo
  • Inverter datasheet doesn't match the model listed on the SLD
  • Missing G100 export limitation form when export is being limited
  • Customer name on LOA doesn't match the electricity bill

What happens

  1. The DNO sends the RFI to us.
  2. Our team reviews it and either responds directly (if we can), or asks you for the missing piece.
  3. Once resolved, the DNO resumes the review.

What you can do to prevent them

  • Send a clear cut-out photo showing the amperage rating clearly.
  • Make sure inverter model numbers on the form match the actual kit going in.
  • Send the customer's MPAN from a recent bill, not a screenshot from months ago.
