Commercial G99 · Typically 50kW+

Commercial G99 DNO Applications, Managed End-to-End.

Grid connection consultancy for commercial renewable installations, typically 50kW and above, where the G99 becomes a full engineering document. We prepare, submit and manage the application, handle the technical queries and chase the DNO through to approval. Smaller residential G99s handled on the same platform.

4,000+ Applications Managed Every UK DNO UK-Based Team Installer Portal

More than just submitting the form

Your application doesn't stop when it's submitted, and neither do we.

DNO Renewables manages the application throughout the DNO assessment process, handling queries, chasing progress and keeping everything organised through your portal until a decision is received.

Prepared properly

Every application is reviewed by a real member of our technical team before it goes near the DNO.

Queries handled

When the DNO comes back with a question, we handle the correspondence and pull you in only when we need to.

Progress chased

We don't submit and disappear. Our team proactively follows up with the DNO throughout the assessment process.

Portal tracked

Every application, message, document and approval sits in one place, live to you and your team.

Commercial G99 · Typically 50kW+

Commercial G99 applications, handled as consultancy.

We take on G99 applications of every size. A domestic 8kW system runs through the same portal as a 500kW commercial rooftop. But the bigger the project, the more it stops being paperwork and starts being engineering. That's where installers, EPCs and developers lean on us as a grid connection consultancy.

Smaller residential and light-commercial jobs are still very welcome, with the same fixed pricing, same portal and same team.

The form is a full engineering document

Above 50kW the G99 stops being a checklist. Protection settings, fault levels, SLDs and G100 export limits all need to be right first time, or the application comes straight back as an RFI.

Commercial approvals can drag for months

Larger jobs hit the DNO's design engineer queue. Without proactive chasing and clean technical prep, 45 to 90+ day turnarounds are the norm.

You need a consultant, not a form-filler

Export capacity, phase balance and transformer headroom are engineering calls, not form fields. We act as the grid connection consultancy sat between you and the DNO.

Project over 1 MW?

Our grid connection team supports commercial and utility-scale projects.

For solar farms, standalone BESS and hybrid schemes we operate as a grid connection consultancy — feasibility, connection strategy, technical application, DNO liaison and commissioning. Priced per project.

How it works

The G99 process, from submission to approval

A process timeline rather than a promised day count. DNO assessment times depend on the network, project size and available capacity.

01

Application Preparation

We review your project information and prepare the required application documentation.

02

Submission

We submit directly to the relevant DNO and obtain the application reference.

03

DNO Assessment

The DNO reviews the proposed connection and local network.

04

Technical Queries

If further information is required, we manage the correspondence and work with you to provide what's needed.

05

Approval / Connection Offer

We receive the DNO's decision and make the documentation available through your portal.

G99 Fast Track

Some smaller generation and battery installations may qualify for a simplified G99 Fast Track process, subject to the equipment, installed capacity, export arrangements and DNO requirements. Send us your system details and we'll establish the appropriate application route.

DNO assessment times vary

DNO assessment times vary depending on the network operator, project size, available network capacity and complexity of the application. We'll prepare and submit your application promptly and proactively chase the DNO throughout the assessment process.

How we work

We don't submit and disappear.

Once your application is with the DNO, our team continues managing it. We monitor outstanding applications, chase for progress, respond to queries and keep your portal updated until the process is complete.

We manage the process. The DNO controls the assessment.

Changing an existing installation?

Modifying a site that's already been approved?

Send us the existing DNO approval and details of the proposed changes. We'll review the project and establish the appropriate application route, whether that's an amendment, a new application or something in between.

Common changes we review

  • Adding a battery
  • Changing the inverter
  • Increasing solar capacity
  • Adding another inverter
  • Changing the export limit
After approval

Approved? We can manage commissioning too.

Once the installation is complete, DNO Renewables can prepare and submit the required commissioning documentation to the DNO and manage the application through to completion.

That means one supplier from project information through submission, DNO liaison, approval and commissioning notification. Genuinely end-to-end.

Commissioning submission

From £50 + VAT

Added on to an existing DNO Renewables application.

  • Commissioning documentation prepared
  • Submitted to the relevant DNO
  • Records kept in your portal alongside the original application

Genuinely end-to-end

Precise thresholds depend on equipment, configuration and DNO requirements. When in doubt, send us the details and we'll confirm the appropriate route.

When to bring us in

The application is cheap. A bad assumption isn't.

A G99 application costs a couple of hundred pounds. A wrong export assumption, an oversized inverter, or a customer promise that the network can't support costs a lot more. The right time to get a real DNO expert on the job is before those decisions harden.

  • Before you promise a customer an export capacity or install date
  • Before you order inverters, batteries or long-lead equipment
  • When a DNO query, RFI or export limit changes the customer offer
  • When the network area is one you don't normally work in
  • When solar, battery and EV are being combined on a single connection
