What is a G98 notification?
G98 is the notification process used for qualifying small-scale generation connected in parallel with the electricity network. Unlike G99 applications, qualifying G98 installations can generally be installed and commissioned before the DNO is notified, with the notification then submitted within the required timeframe.
For a typical single-phase installation, G98 generally applies where generation capacity is no more than 3.68 kW (16 A) per phase, subject to the system configuration and applicable requirements.
G98 is a notification, not an approval. We use terms like "notification submitted" and "DNO acknowledgement", rather than "G98 approval".

The correct DNO route depends on the inverter arrangement, existing generation and overall system configuration, not simply the proposed export limit.
