EV Charger DNO Applications, Handled.

We manage the DNO connection process for EV charger installations across the UK, from domestic chargers to commercial and fleet charging infrastructure.

Every UK DNO UK-Based Team Installer Portal Managed End-to-End
Why the DNO

EV chargers are a Low Carbon Technology connection.

Under the ENA's LCT process, every charging installation needs to be either notified or formally applied for. Which route depends on the charger, the supply and the wider site load.

01

New continuous load

EV chargers add sustained demand that the local network must be able to support alongside existing loads.

02

LCT connection process

Charging equipment falls under the ENA's Low Carbon Technology process, either notified or applied for.

03

Load management counts

Where load management is in place, we capture the operating logic so the DNO sees the real maximum demand.

The two routes

Connect & Notify or Apply to Connect?

A 7 kW charger doesn't automatically qualify. The DNO looks at the whole picture. We confirm the right route before submission.

Connect & Notify

  • Qualifying charger and site conditions
  • Adequate cut-out and supply
  • Install proceeds, DNO notified
  • Typically faster turnaround

Apply to Connect

  • Commercial, fleet or rapid chargers
  • Constrained cut-out or supply
  • DNO approval required first
  • Timescales vary by DNO
