How often do you chase my application?

How our team follows up with the DNO after submission, and why you don't need to chase us.

Written by the DNO Renewables teamUpdated

Once an application has been submitted, we monitor it and follow up with the DNO at appropriate intervals. You don't need to ask us to chase.

Typical rhythm

The frequency depends on the application type and the DNO's usual response window.

  • G98 notifications: we check for confirmation within the expected window (often a few working days), and follow up if the DNO hasn't responded.
  • G99 applications (including Fast Track): we track against the DNO's stated response window and follow up when it lapses. For projects requiring assessment beyond the standard window, we chase periodically until we have a substantive update.
  • Larger commercial and utility-scale projects: we maintain regular contact with the DNO's design and engineering teams throughout the assessment.

When the DNO responds with an approval, query, offer or fee proposal, we upload it to your portal and tell you what happens next.

What we can and can't influence

We can:

  • Submit a clean, complete application first time
  • Respond to DNO queries promptly and within scope
  • Follow up firmly and consistently

We can't:

  • Change the DNO's assessment timescale
  • Move an application up the DNO's queue
  • Force an engineering outcome

If something feels stuck

If a project genuinely feels stuck for longer than expected, send us a message from that project in your portal and we'll dig into the latest DNO position. Comments attached to a project reach the right team member and get faster answers than a general email.
