Most of the software we've built over the last five years exists for one reason: to make DNO applications less painful. Until now, the only way to benefit from it was to hand your applications to our managed service and let our engineers do the work.

That's still the right answer for a lot of installers. But it isn't the right answer for everyone. Plenty of installers we speak to have a competent in-house team, a preferred way of working, and no desire to outsource. What they don't have is a decent tool built specifically for the job.

So we built one. And we've made it free.

Who This Is For

The DNO Renewables CRM is aimed at UK installers who submit their own G98 notifications and G99 applications directly to the DNO, and want a proper way to manage the pipeline. If any of this sounds familiar, it's for you:

  • Your DNO applications live in a spreadsheet, and half the columns are out of date
  • Nobody's quite sure which jobs are with the DNO, which are approved, and which are waiting on the customer
  • You've missed a chase because the reminder was in someone's personal inbox
  • Documents (LOAs, SLDs, approval letters) are scattered across email threads, shared drives, and phones
  • You don't need someone else to do the work, you need a better place to track it

You don't need someone else to do the work. You need a better place to track it.

Why we built it

If instead you'd rather outsource the whole thing, our managed service is still there and unchanged. The CRM sits next to it, not in place of it.

Why We Built It

Three reasons, honestly:

01

The tools available to installers are terrible

Generic CRMs don't understand G98 vs G99, don't track DNO refs, and don't chase design engineers. Installers bend Trello or a spreadsheet into something that mostly hides problems until they blow up.

02

Better in-house workflows help the whole industry

Projects hit 'energised' faster when the paperwork is tracked properly. That's better for the customer, the installer, and the DNOs, who get cleaner submissions with fewer resubmissions.

03

It's a natural extension of what we already do

If an installer hits a complicated G99 they don't want to touch, they can escalate it to our managed service in one click. Free tool for you, occasional escalations for us, everyone wins.

What's Actually In It

Everything you need to run DNO applications in-house, and nothing you don't. The feature list is deliberately focused on the DNO pipeline, not generic CRM fluff:

Pipeline view

Preparing, Awaiting LOA, Submitted, With DNO Engineer, Approved, Pending Install, Commissioned. Kanban or table.

Deadline tracking

Automatic reminders when it's time to chase the DNO. No more 'did anyone chase Northern Powergrid on that job?'

Document handling

LOAs, SLDs, invoices, approval letters, offer letters, commissioning forms, attached to the right job, not lost in email.

Project details

MPANs, addresses, cutout ratings, phase, generation capacity, storage, EV chargers, heat pumps. All in one record.

Team access

Your whole team can see every job. New starter? They can see the pipeline from day one.

One-click escalation

Hit a job you'd rather hand off? Send it straight to our managed service. We pick up from wherever you got to.

Every UK DNO

Northern Powergrid, UKPN, National Grid, SSEN, ENWL, SPEN. All of them.

Same tool we use

The exact system our managed-service team runs on. The only difference is that you're driving.

It's the same underlying system our managed-service team use to handle applications for our own clients. The only difference is that when you use it, you're the one doing the work.

Ready in 2 minutes

Get your DNO pipeline out of the spreadsheet.

  • Free forever, no card required
  • Purpose-built for G98 and G99
  • Invite your whole team

What "Free" Actually Means

Free. Not "free trial", not "free for 30 days", not "free until we hit some usage threshold and start charging". Free.

There's no per-user cost, no per-application cost, no premium tier hiding behind a paywall. Sign up with a business email, invite your team, start using it.

You only pay us if you decide, on a specific job, that you'd rather we did the DNO application for you. That's a per-application charge you know upfront (G98s from £50+VAT, G99s from £125+VAT). If you never escalate a single job, you'll never pay us anything, and that's fine.

What It Is, And What It Isn't

Worth being clear on both sides:

What it is

  • A pipeline tracker for DNO applications
  • Free for installers, forever
  • Purpose-built around G98s and G99s
  • A place to keep every LOA, SLD and approval
  • One-click escalation to our managed service

What it isn't

  • A DNO submission portal (you still submit yourself)
  • An AI that fills in forms for you
  • A general sales/quoting/invoicing CRM
  • A replacement for the managed service
  • Locked behind a trial or usage cap

It does one thing: keep your DNO applications organised. That's it.

How It Fits Alongside the Managed Service

We now offer two ways of working with DNO Renewables, and the honest answer to "which one should I use?" is that it depends on your team and your volume.

There's no wrong answer. Both paths are supported, and you can switch freely between them job by job.
